No Man than This

No Man than This

Jesus was teaching his disciples a lesson on how to show a love that they should display as followers of God. In John chapter 15 we read, “greater love hath no man than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friend.”  Jesus describes a sacrificial type of love.  When you become selfless and do something for someone else even though it may not benefit you.

Now this is Memorial Day weekend. A time that we should set aside to remember to reflect on those who put their lives on the line for their fellow countrymen. Whether they realize it or not, they committed an act of love to you, me, and anyone who calls the United States of America home.

Take time to think about those who sacrificed for us and remember to thank those who are still serving.

Jesus knew what was ahead of him. He was going to lay down his life for every person that has ever lived. He was telling his disciples that they were friends and not servants. Because servants do not know the business of their masters, but friends do know of the whereabouts to their friends. Jesus was setting the example and teaching the reasoning of why we should show such a great love.  There is a lot going on in a weekend like this but we must remember that people still need to see the love of Christ. In closing, Remember the fallen who gave their lives, thank those who served present and past, and show a sacrificial Christ-like love to others.
